    • MTT assay was conducted by the incubation of HSC-T6 cells with 0.5 mg/mL of MTT in the last 2 h of the culture period tested. Reduction of MTT to formazan was assessed in an ELISA plate reader at 540 nm. The effect on cell proliferation was measured by BrdU incorporation assay according to manufacturer's protocol. Cell viability and cell proliferation (% of control) of compounds 1-13 on was calculated as 100 × (absorbance of treated compound/absorbance of control). Data were expressed as the mean of three independent experiments.
