In experiments with Pressure Sensitive Adhesives we observed in some cases an increase of peel adhesion due to favourable rheology of the swelled polymer; we observed similar rheological effects by the addition of some surfactants; for some classes of PSA these effects are widespread.

Personal results. We did observe, with pressure sensitive adhesives on glass cleaned with Piranha solution, an increase of peel adhesion if glass was contaminated with just a monomolecular layer of some non-ionic surfactants or other contaminants.
