    • The citrate-protected AgNPs were prepared by the chemical reduction method reported by Ratyakshi et al. (Ratyakshi and R. P. Chauhan, Asian J. Chem., 2009, 21, S113). To immobilize as-prepared AgNPs on a GCE substrate, a branched poly(ethyleneimine) (BPEI) adhesive layer was adsorbed on the substrate for pretreatment of the substrate first, followed by the subsequent attachment of the AgNPs via electrostatic attractive interactions between the positively charged BPEI and the negatively charged citrate-protected AgNPs (Multilayer Thin Films, ed. G. Decher and J. B. Schelenoff, Wiley-VCH, Weinheim, 2002)
