    • This statement is based on the assumption that thermodynamic equilibrium was reached. However, although there is an inherent driving force in suspension equilibration experiments toward the state of lowest energy, it cannot be excluded that kinetically instead of thermodynamically controlled solid-state forms are recovered after limited equilibration times. The ultimate proof for thermodynamic instability of the cocrystal would be the transformation of the cocrystal into the solvate in the given solution
