    • 2 (10 mL) was added K-birnessite (2.98 g). The reaction mixture was stirred at 30 °C for 7 h. Black precipitate was removed by filtration over celite. The filtrate was concentrated to give crude p-benzaldehyde, which was purified through flash chromatography (silica gel/hexane-EtOAc) to give 2c in 90% yield (129.1 mg).
