    • The reference spectrum of polystyrene was measured using pure polystyrene sections. The reference spectrum of the embedding matrix was extracted from the image sequence. The NEXAFS spectrum of polyalanine was used as the reference spectrum for polyMBAAm because of the structural similarity between these two polymers
