This study evaluated and characterized the prevalence of masked hypertension among patients with chronic kidney disease who were enrolled in the African American Study of Kidney Disease. The findings from this report lend credence to the fact that patients with chronic kidney disease often have undetected elevated blood pressure at home.

This author reports a positive correlation between masked hypertension and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) such that children with masked hypertension have a higher LVMI. This review also assesses the reproducibility of the diagnosis of masked hypertension.
