24. We calculated descriptive statistics at the level of the hospitalization; they include means, standard deviations, medians, and interquartile ranges for continuous data. For categorical data, we report frequencies and percentages. We used chi-square to assess differences in proportions, and Kruskal-Wallace analysis of variance for continuous measures.
25. For mortality, we used log-link generalized estimating equations. Because of the skewed nature of the length-of-stay data, we applied a natural log transformation and used identity-link generalized estimating equations.
