    • 10.1089/apc.2008.0170 19866535 This an intriguing study in that it used an intervention on 28 patients who had failed at least four previous regimens. The intervention was either six or 12 sessions to help patients become "ready" to resume HAART (readiness was not defined or measured). Fourteen of these patients had undetectable viral loads at 3 months, and 11 had undetectable viral loads at 12 months.

The short follow-up and the use of two measures of self-report to define adherence raise caution flags. However, it is an approach that should be replicated in patients who will be followed for a longer period of time.
