    • Note
    • The Migrant Workers Convention contains a comprehensive statement of the basic rights of migrant workers based on other human rights instruments and an expanded principle of nondiscrimination, but also a hierarchy of rights: regular migrants as opposed to irregular migrants are accorded greater rights such as Article 39, which grants freedom of movement within a state, and the right to choose a residence. It also provides regular migrants a right to family unity (art. 44), and greater rights in relation to trade unions (art. 40, right to form associations and trade unions).
