11. 2-, 8.4% (9.9%). Conversion of 1 and 2 to 3: A mixture of 1 (1.48 g, 1.0 mmol) and 2 (0.52 g, 1.0 mmol) was dissolved in 10 ml water and then was mixed with S-lactic acid (1.0 mmol). Hydrochloric acid (1.0 M) was added to give a solution of pH 6. The solution was kept in a refrigerator for one week to afford yellow crystals of 3 (yield 0.56 g, 41%).
