Since the big triethylammonium ion cannot displace sodium or potassium, this result points to a ca. 100% complexation of the crown ether and almost complete absence of unbound molecules, and can be taken as an indirect evidence of the presence of sodium (and, in minor percentage, of potassium) fully complexing the crown ether ring in 7.
