    • A particularity of the simple-cubic lattice is that for (more realistic) vectorial displacements the three space directions decouple in harmonic approximation. The Hamiltionan matrix can be decomposed into three independent matrices describing the motions in the Cartesian directions. Therefore, the vectorial treatment of the vibrations would not change the result except for an improvement of the statistics by a factor of three.
