note
-
While we introduce the QW as the quantization of the RW, the QW was independently defined from different motivations: to construct the stochastic process in quantum probability theory [32], to quantize the RW based on the time symmetric property [1], and to quantize the cellular automaton in the context of the quantum lattice gases [33]. Thereafter, Ambainis mathematically define the DTQW to combine the preceding notations [24] and this definition is used throughout this article. Furthermore, the continuous-time QW [34] is different from the DTQW and corresponds to the hopping dynamics in the Hubbard model. The differences of both QWs still remain open problems in mathematics and physics.

While we assume the "Copenhagen interpretation" throughout this article, there are different problems on the arrow of time in another interpretation. For example, Maccone [35] recently showed the resolution of the arrow of time in the Everett relative-state interpretation noted in Ref. [36].

note
-
Our model is different from the "decoherence QW" analyzed by Zhang [20]. In the decoherence QW, one often take the joint measurement of the position and the coin. The limit distribution of the case of β = 0, that is, the measurement period is independent of the final time, is the normal distribution with the convergence time order 1 / 2. There remains the open problem of similarly analyzing the extended Zhang model.
