24. In the second line of Eq. (14), we have omitted an extra term k B T, which arises from expanding the second term in the integrand of the first line to first order in W (p, r). Since this extra term does not involve any variational parameters, it does not affect to the equilibrium properties. If we kept this extra term, the constant term " - 3 " in the free energy equation (15) would be " - 4 ".
