We also measured the SERS excitation profiles of pyridine and other adsorbates on silver electrodes over a range of excitation wavelengths extending further into the red than in our earlier measurements (note 12), so as to locate the wavelength of the excitation profile maximum (which turned out to be in the red or far red) for roughened silver electrodes.
