General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly against the embargo for the previous 17 years, and the Organization of American States has called the embargo on food and medicines a violation of international law (37, 38). An April 2009 poll showed that the majority of Americans supported lifting the travel ban (64%) and reestablishing diplomatic relations (71%) with Cuba (35).
