Hainzl studied the inclusion of some sort of relaxation in the OFC model and obtained results for aftershocks that look quite similar to those to be shown here. I note, however, that the way in which relaxation is included in is not at the level of the fundamental dynamical variables of the system, but it is an externally prescribed rearrangement of the stresses in the system after an event, following an ad hoc dependence on time, of an exponential form. Here, the implementation is done directly in the evolution equations of the u 's, with minimal assumptions.
