    • In terms of enzymology, CBD and THC are unrelated, because their formation is the result of two distinct enzymes (CBDA synthase and THCA synthase) that share GBG as their substrate and generate the same p-menthenyl cation, but that differ in the way this cation is quenched: either by deprotonation (CBDA synthase) or by intramolecular oxygen trapping (THCA synthase).
