    • Compound 1 was prepared by HCl catalyzed condensation of n-dodecanal with pyrogallol in EtOH (48%, bilayer, colorless solid) that crystallized (EtOH) as a bilayer. Compound 1cap was prepared similarly but crystallized (EtOAc: MeCN 1: 1 v/v) in the hexameric capsule arrangement. Similarly, 2 was prepared from pyrogallol and n-butanal as a bilayer in 51% yield BLM stands for bilayer or black lipid membrane
