    • The detour via the methoxysilane was chosen because the direct reaction of (diethylamino)silane with acetyl chloride would give A'iTV- dietliylacetaniide, which is a liquid with a high boiling point and hardly possible to separate from the product. Diethylamine and methyl acetate are, however, volatile liquids and easy to remove in vacuo.
