    • note
    • The empirical evidence offered in this article is supportive of Kimberley Hutchings's critique of some of the normative claims made by feminist ethicists about dialogue in and across public spheres. Elsewhere in this issue of Alternatives, Hutchings critiques the "civil-society" or public-sphere argument of international feminist ethicists who rely on notions of "equality" and "freedom," too dependent on optimistic visions about what discourse ethics, in whatever form, can and will provide.
