    • It is also appreciated that initial binding of an electron-deficient ni- troaromatic induces a polarization within the receptor as a whole and increases the donor ability of the pyrrolic NH protons within the second binding site. However, efforts to probe the relative importance of this putative contribution through NMR spectroscopic analyses were stymied by the finding that binding of the test nitroar- omatic substrates to receptors 4-6 is under fast exchange. Details of the substrate-induced spectral changes in the 1H NMR spectra of receptors 5 and 6 are included in the Supporting Information
