    • The ERG report was not adopted by the EPA for human risk assessment. Peer review of the report demonstrated serious shortcomings of the analysis that would have to be corrected before it could be considered for such purposes. Subsequently, in 2008 the EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response convened its Scientific Advisory Board to review a new risk assessment model again developed for this purpose. The committee concluded that it was not possible to use existing epidemiologic studies in a model that could differentiate the risk of cancer from chrysotile versus amphibole exposure.
