The isotropic component should average out to zero when the measurement is performed under magic angle spinning (MAS). MAS measurements were made for most materials except for some of the ST and BT. For cases when the sample is oriented at an angle other than the magic angle the magnetic susceptibility of the material will change the oxygen chemical shift by no more than 3 ppm if we assume that the samples are homogeneous and in an infinite cylinder. See Ref. for more information.
