    • Community policing is a preventive approach based on the idea that society is the first line of defense against crime and insecurity. It helps citizens step into that role through programs like neighborhood anticrime activities such as street watch groups, cooperation with the police such as through joint security councils ; and efforts to address crime's causes such as through youth centers, domestic violence seminars, and better street lighting.
