    • In the "box-counting" method, one considers the object embedded in the n -dimensional space and plots the number of n -dimensional cubes of side δ required to cover the entire object versus δ. If the object has fractal scaling properties, the total number Nδ is a power law of δ, i.e., Nδ ∼ δ- Dδ, with Dδ, the box-counting dimension of the structure, being noninteger.
