This "club", which was originally holding a weekly meeting in a Café in the Latin Quarter of Paris, was then structured as the Société Chimique de Paris in 1858 with new bylaws, and elected the first President, J.-B. It is only 126 years later, on March 15, 1983, that the actual "Société Francaise de Chemie" (SCF) was founded from two merging societies, namely, the "SCF" and the "Société de Chimie Physique" (founded in 1908)".
