    • From the known fluences and heat capacities, the estimated temperature isfound to be in the range calculated by thermodynamic consideration. After laserabsoiption, the temperature of the substrate is estimated to be ̃6000 Kand for solid uracil (different heat capacity and mass) an upper value of̃5800 K will be reached, if all energy is exchanged. We note that themelting temperature of uracil is 608 K, but the system, on such short timescales, transfers into the gas phase at the low pressure of the chamber 10-6 torr
