A comparison of 20118 patients with depressed LVEF (<40%) and 21 149 patients with preserved ejection fraction (>40%) found similar morbidity and mortality endpoints at 60 and 90 days. A risk and propensity-adjusted model found no significant relationships between discharge use of ACE-I/ARB or betablocker to 60 and 90-day endpoints among patients with preserved ejection fraction. Conclusions underscore the need for novel therapies and healthcare systems to effectively manage patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction.
