2O (14.9 mg, 0.05 mmol) and citric acid (7.0 mg, 0.033 mmol) in water (10 ml) was stirred for 20 min and the pH of the mixture was adjusted to 5.3 with dilute ammonium hydroxide. The mixture was heated in a water bath at 60 °C for about four days. During heating, a small amount of white floccule appeared from the mixture. The resulting mixture was cooled to room temperature and left standing for a couple of weeks to give colorless transparent prism crystalline product of 1 (73.2 mg, 77%). Positive identification of the crystalline product as 1 came from the IR spectrum and the X-ray unit-cell determinations carried out by single-crystal structural analysis.
