Electronic structure calculations have been performed within the local-density approximation using Vosko-Ceperley-Alder exchange correlation parameterization. The full potential linear muffin-tin-orbital (FP-LMTO) method has been used with 4d and 3d orbitals of Ge treated as valence and local orbitals, respectively. The muffin-tin radii were 2.3, 2.38, and 2.4 a.u. for Co, Mn, and Ge, correspondingly. The tetrahedron method for k -space integration has been used with Nx = Ny = Nz =18 partitioning of the full Brillouin zone.

note
-
The tests have been carried out with thermal flight height control using perpendicular media. Test frequency was 292 MHz and the data transfer rates were 551 and 663 Mbits/s for 1180 and 1420 kbit/in. linear densities, respectively. The positive current polarity is defined as the electrons flow from the free layer into the reference layer.
