At first this feature seems unphysical since it is apparently in violation of particle conservation. Actually one can see that for a finite system with size 2R, particle conservation is satisfied. However the oscillations around n, necessary for this conservation, occur for larger and larger distance from the origin when R grows. Hence they are not present at a finite distance in the thermodynamic limit R→.
