Molecular cloning and characterization of a cDNA for pterocarpan 4-dimethylallyltransferase catalyzing the key prenylation step in the biosynthesis of glyceollin, a soybean phytoalexin
-
After 30 years of extensive international research on the biosynthesis on prenylisoflavonoid phytoalexins, the authors now identify, for the first time, a prenyltransferase of this pathway, representing a key enzyme in the defence mechanism of the commercially important soybean plant. The experimental approach sets the stage for the discovery of further prenyltransferases of phytoalexin biosynthesis.

Chemoenzymatic syntheses of prenylated aromatic small molecules using Streptomyces prenyltransferases with relaxed substrate specificities
-
A thorough biochemical investigation on NphB, the prenyltransferase from the naphterpin biosynthetic gene cluster. The clear differences to Fnq26 (see ref. [36]) in mechanism and specificity show that principal differences exist in the prenylation reactions of the biosynthetic pathways of different meroterpenoids.

Tryptophan aminopeptidase activity of several indole prenyltransferases from
-
This paper describes the unexpected discovery that five fungal indole prenyltransferases of different substrate specificity and regiospecificity all show a peptidase activity, besides their prenyltransferase activity. This is the first report on such a catalytic promiscuity in the field of prenyltransferases.
