D. Feldbaum, H. Wang, J. Weinstein, D. Vieira, and X. Zhao, Phys. Rev. A 76, 051402 (R) (2007). This paper also reported the evidence of polarized atoms in the dipole trap without optical pumping; we have done further measurements with resolved Zeeman spectroscopy, and confirm that the atoms were indeed polarized with 80% and 20% in the aligned and antialigned stretched states, respectively. This effect depends on the polarization of the MOT trapping beams and the ambient magnetic field. 10.1103/PhysRevA.76.051402
