If a precipitate was not observed, the aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl acetate or was evaporated to dryness and the solid suspended in ethyl acetate (40 mL) and stirred for 15 min. The solid was then separated by filtration and the organics were collected and evaporated to give the desired products in 47-83% yields.
