    • I am grateful to Mike Pearson for drawing my attention to Walter Brueggemann's use of the terms, which conflicts with de Certeau, though it speaks to the idea of site as palimpsest: 'Place is space in which important words have been spoken which have established identity, defined vocabulary, and envisioned destiny. Place is space in which vows have been exchanged, promises have been made and demands have been issued.'
