36. 1992 excavations led by Yu. A. Vinogradov (St. Petersburg) identified part of the wall consisting of very large fragments of limestone of the west side of the rocky hill at the Myrmekion acropolis. According to this scholar these walls could date from the end of the 6th or beginning of the 5th century B. C. I am most grateful to Yu. A. Vinogradov for supplying me with this information and showing me these walls in situ.
