Welch, Post-Exilic Judaism, 157; Welch was apparently also the first to dissociate the Chronicler from the author of Ezra-Nehemiah (pp. 186-87). One might add that Welch considered the first six chapters of Ezra to be part of the Chronicler's work, and argued for a rather early - even sixth-century-date for that work (pp. 241-12), which we do not accept. Welch also believed that the genealogies in 1 Chr 1-9 were not a part of that original work
