1. Slavoj Žǐek talks about this emptying out of revolt in the recent outbursts in France and the US. See Slavoj Žižek, 'Some Politically Incorrect Reflections on Violence in France and Related Matters', Parachute, no 124, October-December 2006. Singapore on the other hand has chosen to empty out protests by deporting or refusing entry to accredited members of civil society organisations for the IMF and World Bank meetings. This earned the rebuke of 'authoritarian' by World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz who felt that Singapore reneged on the conditions laid out in the MOUs signed in order for the meetings to be held in Singapore.
2. The exhibition was held at the Singapore Art Museum and featured the artists Cheo Chai Hiang, FX Harsono, Jim Supangkat, Pablo Baen Santos, Pratung Emjaroen, Priyanto, Redza Piyadasa, Sulairnan Haji Esa and Tang Da Wu. The Singapore Art Museum is not part of the list of official venues for SB2006.
