The Hispanic Challenge
-
(March/April) (accessed July 10, 2005)
-
Most recently, Harvard professor Samuel Huntington expressed this fear of the brown Other. In an article in Foreign Policy, he warned of "the intense and continuing immigration from Latin America, especially from Mexico," that is threatening the linguistic and religious foundations of the United States. He asks, "Will the United States remain a country with a single national language and a core of Anglo-Protestant culture?" Or, ominously from his point of view, are we witnessing the "transformation [of the United States] into two peoples with two cultures and two languages?"
