21. The combination of music with words also, among other things, may imbue the ideas being transmitted with an additional layer of information. For where the music projects or expresses an affective or emotive contour that reinforces or is appropriate to the message in the verbal text, the ideas at issue are more specific, precise, and, for that reason, comprehensible. This, too, is a reason why music is scarcely dispensable as an educational means toward broadcasting the ethos of cultures.
