Chejne, Ibn H{dot below}azm (Chicago, 1982), in which the author also deals with Abū 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Barr and S{dot below}ā'id al-Andalusī. An interesting chapter on this question and on the same authors can be found in Balty-Guesdon, Médecins et hommes de science, pp. 458-73. Further bibliographical references will be given below.
