    • The calculations of the demagnetization factors (N) for cylinders are complicated. A very rough approximation would use the N factors of a thin film that represents the extreme situation with L≪D. In this case N=0 for H∥film plane (H⊥ga) and N=1 for H⊥film plane (H∥ga). Consequently, while in the geometry with H⊥ga the demagnetization effect is small; with H∥ga it reduces substantially the effective field.
