Vener A novel plant protein undergoing light-induced phosphorylation and release from the photosynthetic thylakoid membranes Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 100 2003 757 762 The identity of a phosphoprotein (TSP9) was revealed by mass spectrometry. TSP9 is a small (9-kDa) plant-specific protein that is released from the thylakoid membrane into the stroma in response to phosphorylation in the light by the redox-dependent protein kinases. TSP9 might have a role in cell signalling, communicating the redox signal from the plastid to the nucleus.
