Vener A novel plant protein undergoing light-induced phosphorylation and release from the photosynthetic thylakoid membranes Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 100 2003 757 762 The identity of a phosphoprotein (TSP9) was revealed by mass spectrometry. TSP9 is a small (9-kDa) plant-specific protein that is released from the thylakoid membrane into the stroma in response to phosphorylation in the light by the redox-dependent protein kinases. TSP9 might have a role in cell signalling, communicating the redox signal from the plastid to the nucleus.

K.E. Wilson, S.M. Sieger, and Huner NPA The temperature-dependent accumulation of Mg-protoporphyrin IX and reactive oxygen species in Chlorella vulgaris Physiol Plant 119 2003 126 136 The authors demonstrate that Mg-ProtoIX accumulates in response to low temperature in Chlorella vulgaris cells. Their results show that conditions affecting membrane structure and function result in an imbalance in the tetrapyrrole pathway and in accumulation of Mg-ProtoIX.
