Eur Urol 2008; 53:160-166. This randomized study shows the long-term results, demonstrating that 5 years after the operation, the improvements in micturition obtained with HoLEP and open prostatectomy are equally good, and reoperation rates remain low.

This study represents the longest follow-up results in patients treated with HoLEP. The authors demonstrate that HoLEP is durable and most patients remain satisfied or extremely satisfied with the long-term outcome.
