10. After this work was complete, I learned that the O(a-2) and O(a-3) terms in the metric in the special case of single-field inflation have also been found by Y. Tanaka and M. Sasaki, Prog. Theor. Phys. 118, 455 (2007). Their solution is different from that presented in Sec. 3, presumably because they use a different gauge: In their gauge, the time is not defined to give the scalar field its unperturbed value, so that they find O(a-2) and O(a-3) perturbations to the scalar field, and the space coordinates are not defined to make Ni=0.
