    • The LUMO energy of the CuPcTS in the film was estimated to be within a range of 3.8 to 4.1 eV by adding the energy of the Q band (678 nm) and the onset of the optical absorption (820 nm) to the HOMO level, respectively. Here, we ignored the exciton binding energy and thus the LUMO position evaluated by considering the exciton binding energy would be a bit higher than that of our estimation.

    • The optimal thickness is not directly correlated with the exciton diffusion length because of the surface roughness of the PDDA/CuPcTS films (ca. 5 nm).

    • The sample preparations and the measurement of J-V characteristics were carried out in ambient atmosphere at a temperature of 294 K and a humidity of 50-60% without a control of the oxygen concentration.
