18. Enantiomeric excess was determined by Chiralcel OD-H column (0.46 cm × 25 cm), eluting with hexanes/isopropanol (90/10) at a flow rate of 1.5 mL/min. Essentially one peak was observed in each case. The retention time for (S)-1a: 20.2 min and (R)-1b: 24.8 min
