    • Identification of a potential ejaculation generator in the spinal cord
    • This study demonstrates that a population of lumbar spinothalamic cells plays a pivotal role in the generation of ejaculatory behavior and is part of a potential ejaculation generator in the spinal cord. This should help providing an effective treatment for sexual dysfunction, particularly related to ejaculation.

    • Sexually dimorphic gastrin releasing peptide system in the spinal cord controls male reproductive functions
    • This study demonstrates a sexually dimorphic system of neurons in the upper lumbar spinal cord that uses a specific peptide, gastrin-releasing peptide, to drive lower spinal centers controlling erection and ejaculation in males. Identification of this male-specific neural system regulating sexual behavior offers new avenues for understanding potential therapeutic approaches to masculine reproductive dysfunction.
